All CEHD graduate programs require the following items for admissions consideration:
Resume: Resume should be updated and free of grammatical errors.
Goals Statement: The goals statement is 750-1000 words and should describe your academic and career goals related to the intended program. We recommend that applicants are specific in describing their past experiences related to the intended program as well as personal and professional aspirations. We also would like to know why you are choosing Mason to attend graduate school.
Transcript: Students can upload their unofficial transcripts for application review. Students with international credentials must provide official documents for admissions review. Please refer to the Office of Graduate Admissions for specific requirements.
Letters of recommendation: The PhD in Education program requires three letters of recommendation. All other CEHD programs require two letters of recommendation. Applicants should follow the instructions included in the online application to submit the recommendation form directly to their recommender. Mason does not accept paper recommendations. Recommendations should be professional or academic in nature. See FAQs for more information.
Teacher Licensure Programs
Graduate programs that lead to a teaching license will require additional items for admissions consideration:
Endorsement Requirement Worksheet: Endorsements are academic prerequisites required by the state of Virginia Department of Education for all teaching license programs. Applicants will need to create an account with our endorsement system and upload corresponding documents. Our Endorsement Specialist will verify academic credentials and provide advising on additional requirements if necessary. Applications must upload this document to their application. Specific information on this process can be found on our Endorsement page.

GRE: Several CEHD programs require the GRE. Please refer to the requirements chart. GRE scores must be received for admissions consideration.
Interview: Several programs require an interview. Interviews are by invitation only. Applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview once all other application requirements have been met.
Writing Sample: Several programs require a writing sample. Writing samples are by invitation only. Applicants will be contacted to schedule a writing sample once all other application requirements have been met.
