This bachelor’s/accelerated master’s program is designed for those interested in fast-tracking their career in sport management.
The sport management concentration equips students with the skills needed to succeed in the $490 billion sport industry. Whether you’re shifting careers or enhancing your existing skills, the sport management concentration prepares you to take on a leadership role in the industry. Foundational coursework in management, marketing, finance, law, facility and event operations, and leadership combined with flexible elective and capstone opportunities position you for a career with private for-profit, nonprofit, and public sector sport organizations.
Students gain real-world experience thanks to our proximity and connections to sports-rich Washington, D.C., which boasts seven professional sports teams a half-dozen Division I universities, numerous sport facilities, and a vibrant sport events industry. Small classes with award-winning leaders in the field provide individualized attention and career-ready graduates.
Graduates boast jobs in media relations, marketing, sales, alumni development, and coaching, including with teams in the NFL, NHL, NBA, WNBA, MLS, NWSL, college athletics, Monumental Sports Entertainment, national governing bodies, and more.
Dynamic, growing, and committed to excellence, the Sport Management program seeks to develop students’ professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions through a curriculum guided by North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) and the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) content standards. An integral part of the Sport Management curriculum includes vast opportunities for multiple field experiences in sport settings in the Northern Virginia region, the greater D.C. metro area, and throughout the world. Qualified Mason undergraduates can obtain both a bachelor's degree in any area and an MS in Sport Management within an accelerated timeframe while paying undergraduate tuition rates for graduate classes taken while finishing the bachelor’s degree. George Mason University’s Sport Management program serves one of the nation’s most diverse student populations.
